National Park Service Partnerships Program
Serving the Pacific Northwest

Everyone has heard of the National Park Service and its exceptional parks - such as Yellowstone and Mount Rainier - but did you know that the National Park Service has also very likely helped your community - perhaps even your own neighborhood? Several programs of the National Park Service assist locally-led efforts to create and protect vital community places - establishing trails, developing playgrounds and sports fields, restoring rivers, saving open spaces, and rehabilitating existing parks. I invite you to visit the following sites to learn more about how these programs can help local groups and jurisdictions in the Pacific Northwest achieve their recreation and conservation goals.

RIVERS, TRAILS AND CONSERVATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance (RTCA) Program provides assistance to community groups and local and State governments to conserve rivers, preserve open space, and develop trails and greenways.

GRANTS PROGRAMS
The National Park Service administers two programs that provide matching federal funds for recreation projects - the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and the Urban Park and Recreation Recovery (UPARR) Program.

Our office is also a point-of-contact for these additional programs of the National Park Service's National Center for Recreation and Conservation:

Federal Lands to Parks: transfers surplus Federal land to state and local governments for park and recreation areas

Wild and Scenic Rivers: a national system of "outstandingly remarkable" rivers of regional or national significance

National Recreation Trails: a national system of exemplary trails of local and regional significance
