The Outdoor Recreation Information Center provides up-to-date
information concerning recreational opportunities in the National
Forests and Parks of Washington State.
This unique visitor center has been operated jointly by the U.S.
Forest Service and the National Park Service for twenty years.
Following are other sources of information on recreation in the
Pacific Northwest. Please be aware that you are leaving the pages of
the National Park Service; we take no responsibility for the content of
these other sites. We encourage you to double check this information
with the responsible agency. At the Outdoor Recreation Information
Center, you can get:
- Current information on roads, trails, and camping at all U.S. Forest Service locations in Washington and Oregon.
- Addresses and phone numbers for all National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service locations in the entire United States.
- Information on group camping in the Pacific Northwest.
- Information on Washington State Parks, Washington Department of Natural Resources, and most other land management agencies in the Pacific Northwest and other regions.
- Information on outdoor clubs, group newsletters, and brochures on groups such as the Mountaineers, Pack and Paddle, and the Backcountry Bicycle Trail Club.
- Current trail, road, and campground reports available.
- Books and other publications of the Northwest Interpretive Association can be purchased here. A free catalog is available upon request. NWIA is a non-profit organizaton that benefits our parks and forests.
- Trail guides, climbing information, backcountry camping, and nature information for Mount Rainier, North Cascades, Olympic, and other national parks in the Columbia Cascades.
- National Parks Pass, Golden Eagle, Golden Age, and Golden Access Passports.
- Current avalanche conditions, as well as current conditions on Washington roads, and Oregon roads.
- Current information on Burn Bans from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
