Visitor Center

The visitor center contains a small exhibit area featuring past area industries, the development of the park, and a collection of preserved local wildlife.  Eastern National provides a small bookstore for your interest.  Restrooms and a small auditorium for programs are also available.

Visitor Center hours:  Monday through Thursday, 10:00am to 4:30pm; Friday, 10:00am to 5:00pm; Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.

The building is closed for the following winter federal holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, President's Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Did You Know?
Camp Hi Catoctin, a camp for federal employees was adapted by President Franklin Roosevelt for his Presidential retreat during WWII and named Shangri-La. President Eisenhower renamed the retreat to Camp David. The retreat is not open to the public.
