Due to increased security measures, portions of Catoctin Mountain Park will be closed effective Friday, July 26, 2013 at approximately 8:00 AM. Closures are scheduled to continue through Friday, July 26, 2013 at approximately 7:00 PM.

Deputy Sheriff Clyde L. Hauver was the first Frederick County, Maryland, Deputy to be killed in the line of duty. He was leading a raid on the Blue Blazes Whiskey Still on July 31, 1929 when he was shot and killed.
