The pedestrian bridge over the Front Lake dam at the main park entrance is closed. To access park buildings, restrooms, and trails on foot during the closure, visitors must now walk an additional 0.4 mile around Front Lake, and then walk 1/3 mile up a steeply graded hill to the Sandburg Home and farm. Be prepared for this detour when you arrive. View a trail map with the detour here. If you need accessibility assistance, visit our accessibility page for more information. Visitors with mobility concerns are strongly urged to visit when the shuttle is running. A free, accessible shuttle transports visitors from the main paved parking lot on Little River Road to the Sandburg Home and farm. It runs 7 days a week and loops through the parking lot every twenty minutes. The first pick up in the main parking lot is at 9:40 a.m. The last drop off in the parking lot is at 4:20 p.m. Visitors who need the shuttle should gather at the Shuttle Stop sign near the accessible parking spaces! Free parking is available at the main parking lot located at the entrance to the park. Use 1800 Little River Road, Flat Rock, NC, to navigate to this location. From this parking lot it is a 0.3 mile up-hill walk on a natural surface trail up to the Sandburg Home, farm and trails. (With the detour, add an additional 0.4 mile walk). The main parking lot has three oversize vehicle parking spaces for RV's and buses. Vehicles with trailers will be unable to park in these spaces and should use the playhouse lot across the street subject to availability. On busy days the lot fills quickly.
