This free family fun day has activities for visitors of all ages. Young visitors should stop at the table near the park entrance to pick up a Track Trail brochure. Once they complete the activities in the brochure and visit some of the special activity stations, they will earn junior ranger patches and awards. All acitivities including house tours are free on this day.
Ongoing activities from 10am to 3pm:
Pollination Station - observe a live beehive and participate in pollinator games.
Milk a Goat and make your own butter at the barn.
Be a Gardner, Ask a Gardner and learn what it takes to make a garden grow, dig around for yourself and plant some beans.
Farm Fitness Relay will assess your fitness level while you have fun learning about what grows in the Sandburg garden.
Be a Citizen Scientist by measuring water quality and temperature and learn how they are indicators of a healthy planet.
Special scheduled events:
10:00 am to 1:00 pm the Brightwater Yoga studio will share yoga techniques on the lawn in front of the Farm Manager's House.
10:15 am apprentices from the Flat Rock Playhouse will perform Rootabaga!, a live performance of Sandburg's stories for children at the amphitheater.
10:30 to 12:30, live old-timey music will be heard from the barn area.
Noon to 2:00 pm Carlton Burke will have live birds for a demonstration of the lives and habitats of birds of prey.
