Rangers perform holiday music

Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site will sponsor Christmas at Connemara on Saturday December 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event is scheduled to take place in the house garage and will honor the Sandburg family and Henderson County’s Home for the Holidays. Throughout December, Carl Sandburg Home is decorated with poinsettias, pine boughs, and a Christmas tree displaying ornaments replicating those used by the Sandburg family.

The program features Kitty Howell playing the Celtic Harp, Pat Corn playing guitar and singing Christmas tunes, Black Feather sharing stories of the Cherokees, a Flute Ensemble presenting classic and seasonal tunes, Buddy, Carol and Jamie, a trio with sounds of the holidays on guitar and bass, and a Park Ranger playing guitar and leading a Christmas sing-a-long. The Southern Appalachian Chamber Singers conclude the program with classical and festive song.

Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site is located three miles south of Hendersonville off U.S. 225 on Little River Road. The park is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., daily, except Christmas Day. Scheduled guided tours of the home cost $5.00 each for adults and are free for those age 16 and under. The grounds are free of charge with hiking trails, a goat barn, picnic area and bookstore. For further information, please telephone 828-693-4178.

Did You Know?
It takes over six YEARS to clean all the books in Carl Sandburg's collection. Cleaning books is a routine task for the museum staff at Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. The books are cleaned to reduce pests like silverfish from eating these valuable artifacts.
