Capitol Reef National Park Special Use Permits The Special Use Permit (SUP) authorizes activities that benefit an individual, group or organization, rather than the public at large: and that require written authorization and management control in order to protect park resources and the public interest. Examples include: weddings, memorializations, commercial filming and/or photography, special assemblies, First Amendment activities, athletic events, firearms, or collecting resource materials require a special use permit be acquired in advance. Please contact the park at (435) 425-4130 well in advance of your activity and/or event. Any commercial activity, other than commercial filming and/or photography, requires a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA). |
Did You Know?
Geologist G.K. Gilbert, a member of John Wesley Powell's scientific team, surveyed the Capitol Reef area in 1875. Gilbert mapped a fault line adjacent to Chimney Rock along Utah Highway 24, and a copy of his field sketch is incorporated into the park’s Junior Geologist program. More...
