Go Wild for Capitol Reef National Park!
Celebrate National Park Week with Free Admission on Opening Weekend

Washington - Go wild for the history, nature, trails, archeology, and marmots of Capitol Reef National Park during National Park Week, April 19 through 27, 2014. To get the celebration going, Capitol Reef National Park will waive entrace fees on April 19 and 20.

Activities during the week include: geology talks at 10:00 am on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays; Fremont Culture Talks at 3:00 pm Thursday through Sunday; A geology hike at 4:00 pm on Friday; a porch talk at 4:00 pm on Saturday; a Fruita history walk at 4:00 pm on Sunday; a Junior Geologist walk at 4:00 pm on Friday; and evening programs at 8:00 pm on Thursday and Saturday. Locations and details are listed at the visitor center. Ripple Rock Nature Center will be open 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday April 18 and Saturday April 19. Earth Day is April 22 and Junior Ranger Day is April 26; celebrate by discovering Capitol Reef.

"National Park Week is a wonderful time to explore Capitol Reef and appreciate all that National Parks have to offer and we hope to see you soon," says Leah McGinnis, Park Superintendent.

National Park Week is also a good time to explore local parks, trails, and architectural gems sustained through National Park Service programs such as the Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance program and the National Register of Historic Places.
