Join ranger programs and activities to increase your understanding of
the dynamic interactions between our planet's natural systems and have fun!

Thursday, October 16:
10:00 am Geology Talk. Meet at the visitor center for this 20 minute overview.
1:00 pm Identify fossils like a paleontologist. Meet at the Picnic Area located 1 mile (1.6 km) 
                 south of the visitor center on the Scenic Drive. 1 1/2 hours

Friday, October 17:
10:00 am Geology Talk. Meet at the visitor center for this 20 minute overview.
10:30 am Geology Hike. Meet at the Hickman Bridge Trailhead, 1.9 miles (3 km)
        east of the visitor center on Highway 24 for this moderate ranger-guided hike.
                 1 1/2 hours.
7:30 pm Discover the unique geology of Capitol Reef. Meet at the amphitheater located 
        1.4 miles (2.3 km) south of the visitor center behind Loop C of the Fruita
         Campground. 1 hour.

Saturday, October 18:
10:00 am Geology Talk. Meet at the visitor center for this 20 minute overview.
1:00 - 5:00 pm Ripple Rock Nature Center, located 0.9 mile (1.4 km) south of the visitor center
                 on the Scenic Drive, hosts interactive exhibits on geology and other park resources.
1:00 pm Stratigraphic Action demonstrates the principles and processes which created
         this landscape. Meet at the Ripple Rock Nature Center. 30 minutes.
1:45 pm Try your hand at geologic mapping. Meet at the Ripple Rock Nature Center.
                  45 minutes.
2:30 pm Learn about the rock cycle in this hands-on activity. Meet at the Ripple Rock Nature
