Canyonlands 50th Event at Needles Now Full

Canyonlands National Park's 50th Anniversary ceremony and dinner at the Needles on Friday, September 12th, as well as the shuttle service from Moab to the Needles and back, is now full.

Parking in the Needles is very limited and not available at the event site itself, so persons driving to the Needles will need to get parking directions from entrance station rangers upon arrival. Shuttles will take participants from parking areas to the event site. Shuttle service begins at 2:45p.m. and the last shuttle leaves for the event site at 3:35 p.m.After the ceremony, shuttles will begin departing the event site for parking areas at 6:30 p.m., while the last shuttle will leave the ceremony site at 7:30 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, bring plenty of water, and carpool.

In addition to the Needles ceremony, the Island in the Sky District of the park will be offering Anniversary activities as well including:

Thursday, September 11, 9:30 a.m.to 12:30 p.m.
"Snap a Selfie with a Ranger"
Join a ranger at the Canyonlands Entrance Sign on your way into the Island in the Sky district. Snap a photo with the ranger, then look for your "selfie" on our Facebook page.

Friday, September 12, 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m.
"Our Foundations"
Join a ranger on the visitor center patio for a program about the beginnings of Canyonlands National Park. Birthday cake available after the 10:30 program.

Saturday, September 13, 8:00pm
"Who's Afraid of the Dark?"
Celebrate one of Canyonlands' precious resources, the night sky. Rangers from Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point State Park will talk about the importance of darkness and then take you on a trip through the universe with a constellation tour and telescope viewing.
