Cape Lookout National Seashore
Houseboats
A houseboat sits just off the shore

Houseboats are a relaxing way to experience the park from the water.

Be aware that a houseboat anchored overnight in park waters is considered to be "camping" and is subject to the same time limit restrictions as a camper on land.

Houseboats may be rented from several local companies.

Barrier islands, such as those of Cape Lookout National Seashore, are piles of sand. As storms come up from the ocean the beaches are constantly rearranged.
