Harkers Island, North Carolina. The National Park Service (NPS) at Cape Lookout National Seashore is accepting applications for Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA) to provide vehicle and passenger ferry service from Davis, North Carolina, to Great Island on South Core Banks. These CUA permits are being utilized to provide ferry services from Davis to Great Island on an interim basis until a long-term ferry contract can be developed and a new long-term operator is chosen.

Operators applying for permits must be able to:  provide both vehicle and passenger ferry service, meet all NPS and U.S. Coast Guard standards for ferry operations, provide necessary mainland facilities; and they will be required to operate on a set publicized schedule.  Those interested in applying for a permit should contact Mike McGee at 252-728-2250, extension 3030.
