Wildlife closures on South Core and "Ophelia" Banks

All nesting activity has been completed for 2009.  All seasonal and temporary beach closure areas have been reopened to motor vehicles.

Areas remaining closed to motor vehicles are the permanent closure areas of Shackleford Banks, Ramp 41a to Ramp 41b (lighthouse swim beach) and Power Squadron Spit west of the Jetty.

This is the last update for 2009.  Next updates will be posted in May 2010 with the beginning of the nesting season.

Did You Know?
Sand dollars are living animals. If you find one that is brown and fuzzy, leave it behind. If it is white and smooth it has already died, and you may keep it. Cape Lookout National Seashore
