National Park Service and Francis Marion Memorial Project Seek Public Comment on Location of New Memorial
The National Park Service (NPS) and the Francis Marion Memorial Project (FMMP) are conducting an Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate the impacts of establishing a permanent memorial honoring Revolutionary War General Francis Marion. The first phase of of public scoping focuses on site selection, and the NPS and FMMP are accepting public comments through December 10, 2014 on possible locations for the Congressionally authorized memorial.

Howl'oween in the Park
The National Park Service (NPS) is teaming up with the Washington SPCA and Metro Mutts for a Halloween celebration and pet safety awareness meet and greet for the dogs and dog parents who enjoy Capitol Hill Parks. The festivities run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Lincoln Park.

Turf Improvement Project Will Temporarily Close Portions of Lincoln and Stanton Parks
The National Park Service (NPS) will improve grassy areas at Lincoln and Stanton parks by improving soil heath, re-seeding with a new seed blend and allowing time for proper seed germination, which will create a strong root system. The goal is stronger, more resilient grass.
