News Releases

The National Park Service began rehabilitation in Marion Park on April 21, 2014. The project includes rehabilitation and replacement of the existing brick sidewalks to enhance public recreation and enjoyment. The project has been broken up into two phases to help continue to give public access to the park and playgrounds. Phase one of the project will be completed between April 21- July 1, 2014 and phase two of the project will be completed July 2 - September 18, 2014. Sections of the park and playground will remain open throughout the project.

The eastern and center panels of Marion Park located between 4th Street S.E. and 6th Street S.E. will be fenced off during these phases to provide a staging area for the contractor’s equipment and supplies. Nevertheless, the mowing, trash removal, and litter picking of the park will continue. Dates are subject to change if weather conditions or extenuating circumstances prevent completion within the anticipated time frame.
