Cape Cod National Seashore Chief of Interpretation Sue Moynihan has announced that during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, there will be three showings of the acclaimed History Channel movie “Desperate Crossing: The Untold Story of the Mayflower.” This movie is an extremely well researched and historically accurate portrayal of the Pilgrim’s troubled journey, their contact with the Wampanoag People, and the founding of Plymouth Colony. A re-creation of the astounding story of a hundred brave and resilient English Separatists and their struggle to live free in Massachusetts, the film features dialogue from original source material, vivid high-definition reenactments, and actors from the Royal Shakespeare Company. The film showings will be free. Popcorn and drinks will be served during a short intermission.
“Desperate Crossing” is 2½ hours long, and will be shown in its entirety at the Salt Pond Visitor Center, off Route 6, Eastham, at 1 pm on Friday November 23rd, Saturday November 24th and Sunday November 25th. For more information contact the Salt Pond Visitor Center at 508-255-3421, ext 0.

Did You Know?
The area at the northernmost tip of Cape Cod National Seashore in Provincetown is known as “Race Point”. It gets its name from the swift tidal “race” that swirls from ocean to bay around the point. The swimming beach is located a safe distance away in calmer waters.
