Cape Cod National Seashore to Host Program on Sea Songs and Stories for Families

Have you ever sung a song about a horseshoe crab or laughed with a pirate? Have some fun in the seashore this summer with songs, stories and dance.  “Stand-Up Chameleon” Jackson Gillman will present Once Upon A Tide: Sea Songs and Stories for the Family on Tuesday, July 21 at 3:30 PM at Province Lands Visitor Center in Provincetown, and at 7 PM at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. 

These two rollicking performances of interactive songs and stories are guaranteed to delight and enchant all ages. For this show, Gillman will draw on his fishy repertoire from the sandy beach and the briny deep. He magically transforms himself into a wide array of eccentric characters. He might be a salt lobsterman one moment, and then one of the various creatures he comes across while fishing.

Jackson has created two dozen story/song programs over his thirty year career and has performed throughout the country. Through his many talents as mime, actor, songsmith, and storyteller Gillman brings the audience into the imaginative worlds of creative adventure.

The upcoming programs are part of the annual “Tuesday Evening Series” at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. Held weekly at 7 PM in July and August in the air-cooled comfort of the visitor center auditorium, programs cover the diverse natural and cultural resources on the Outer Cape and are suitable for all ages, free of charge and accessible. The series, and additional special program at Province Lands Visitor Center, is sponsored by Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
