Cape Cod National Seashore
Cape Cod National Seashore to Host Evening Program on Grey and Harbor Seals of Cape Cod

Date: July 17, 2008

Grey and harbor seals sightings are becoming commonplace on our coastal waterways. Seals “haul out” on the sandy shores essential for their survival to rest, regulate body temperature, and interact with one another.  Join Lisa Sette, naturalist and biologist with the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies, for a free, one-hour multimedia presentation about these interesting local denizens at 7 PM on July 29 at the Salt Pond Visitor Center indoor auditorium, Eastham.

Salt Pond Visitor Center’s popular “Tuesday Evening Series” is held weekly at 7 PM through July and August, and offers an introduction to the diverse natural and cultural resources of the Outer Cape. The program is free, accessible, and open to the public.  The series is sponsored by Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

IF YOU GO:  Salt Pond Visitor Center is located at Route 6 and Nauset Road in Eastham, and can be contacted by calling 508-255-3421. The center is open from 9 AM to 5 PM. Staff is available to assist with activity planning, and there is a museum; orientation films shown regularly; a bookstore featuring interpretive items, such as books, maps, puzzles, and games; and panoramic views of Salt Pond, Nauset Marsh, and the Atlantic. For more information about the seashore’s programs, visit the park website at www.nps.gov/caco.
