Ken Kinkor, project historian for Barry Clifford’s “Expedition Wydah"

Tales of swashbuckling and buried treasure might bring to mind tropical islands in the South Seas, but in bygone days the shores of Cape Cod were plagued by pirates as well. Come experience a time when bandits terrorized local waters in Pirates of Cape Cod.

On Saturday, May 10 at 2 PM at the Province Lands Visitor Center, uncover Cape Cod’s scandalous past during a one-hour presentation with local pirate expert Ken Kinkor. The visitor center is located on Race Point Road in Provincetown. The event is free, accessible and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

For the past twenty years, Kinkor has served as the project historian for Barry Clifford’s “Expedition Wydah,” the underwater exploration team that unveiled a local pirate mystery. Hear the gripping tale of Black Sam Bellamy and learn about his tragic fate from those who discovered the wreck of his ship, the Wydah. Although Cape Cod’s pirates vanished long ago, their legacies live on in stories and treasures left behind.

Each Saturday at 2 PM during May, the Province Lands Visitor Center off of Race Point Road will host a one-hour special presentation as part of the Maritime Days series.

IF YOU GO:
The Province Lands Visitor Center (508- 487 - 1256) is ope daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Staff is on-hand to assist with activity planning and hiking and biking trail information.
