The National Park Service (NPS) and Cape Cod National Seashore are seeking public input on the development of a multi-use trail for bicycle and pedestrian use in conjunction with improvement of a 2-mile stretch of Moors Road in Provincetown.  The public is invited to a workshop on Thursday September 24, 2009 to provide ideas and input for the project. The workshop will be held from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies, 5 Holway Avenue, Provincetown, MA.

The purpose of this project is the development of a multi-use trail that would connect Herring Cove Beach and the Province Lands bike path with Provincetown via Moors Road. This will reduce the congestion and safety issues associated with the current routing of bikes along Moors Road and through parking areas to access bicycle parking for Herring Cove Beach. Additionally, 2 miles of Moors Road (US Highway 6A) from the park boundary to the intersection with State Route 6 in Cape Cod National Seashore will be reconstructed to increase its ability to withstand increasing heavy vehicle use.

Development of an integrated bicycle feasibility study for the entire Cape focused around accessibility to and from the National Seashore is currently underway. This study includes analysis of existing bicycle facilities as well as the identification of potential additional facilities or improvements.

Information regarding the improvements related to the Moors Road project will be posted on the National Park Service Planning and Environment Public Comment (PEPC) website at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/caco. If you are unable to attend the public workshop on Thursday, September 24, please keep up to date via this website and share your ideas with us via letter to Cape Cod National Seashore, 99 Marconi Site Road, Wellfleet, MA 02667.
