"Keeping Up With the Joneses -- the Welsh in America" February 22 -- March 14, 2008

The remarkable stories of many of the Welsh people who have participated in the development of America will be represented in an exhibit at Federal Hall. It is among several activities taking place in New York in honor of Wales Week which coincides with the Welsh National Day, March 1.
Following a brief overview of significant figures in Welsh history, this exhibit concentrates on the Welsh who have made notable contributions in many diverse areas of American life. Among those either born in Wales or of Welsh descent are Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe, Financier J. P. Morgan, Yale University founder Elihu Yale and many other historical figures. The exhibit also features more recent accomplishments such as those of Welsh actor Catherine Zeta-Jones, singer Tom Jones and others who have made international cultural history.
"Keeping Up With the Joneses -- the Welsh in America" may be seen at Federal Hall daily Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Climate

Due to its location at the foot of New York Harbor, Castle Clinton can be a lovely place to have an outdoor lunch or a place to test extreme weather gear. Spring and Fall are generally mild. However, winters bring on the full force of wind swept harbor waters and can be quite cold. Summers tend to be very hot and humid. Please dress accordingly.
