Operating Hours & Seasons

Access to the national river is open all year.

VISITOR CENTER
Tyler Bend Visitor Center is open all year but closed on federal holidays except Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Hours of operation are 8:30am to 4:30pm Daily. The visitor center may occasionally be closed for 1/2 hour at lunch time. Phone (870) 439-2502.

RANGER STATIONS
Buffalo Point Ranger Station is open all year, but closed on federal holidays except Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Hours of operation are 8:30am to 4:30pm Daily as staffing permits. Please call in advance to be sure the station is open. Phone (870) 449-4311.

Steel Creek Information Station is open as staffing permits. Please call in advance to be sure the station is open. Phone (870) 861-2570.

Visitor Center and Ranger Station may have unscheduled closures in order for staff to provide organized programs. Please call ahead to the location you wish to visit to be sure it is open when you arrive.

Twilight on the Buffalo National River

Did you know that there are no dams found on the Buffalo National River. In fact, a number of people realized this and fought to keep the river untouched by dam builders. On March 1, 1972, Congress established Buffalo National River as the country's first national river.
