Buffalo National River Flood Recovery Efforts

As of 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon May 7, 2011 –Crews are working on assessments of damages and flood recovery. Ongoing work includes repairs to roads, launches, campgrounds and facilities. Assessments continue on trails, and park natural and cultural resources. The following areas remain closed for the safety of our park visitors, neighbors and employees.

Lost Valley – CLOSED at hwy 43, Erbie Horse Camp and Caver Camp – CLOSED, Mount Hersey – CLOSED, Gilbert – 4 WD only, Spring Creek – CLOSED, Rush – CLOSED, Buffalo Point Launch – CLOSED, Buffalo Point Campground - sites 27, 47, 48, 49 – CLOSED

Trails assessments are ongoing, and many trails have experienced moderate to severe damage. Water crossings may be hazardous or washed out. Until trails assessments are complete, visitors should use extreme caution on all trails and should consider using an alternate route to avoid water crossings and damaged areas.
