Bluff Jumper Injured at Grinders Ferry

A 19-year old man sustained injuries on Saturday, July 13th, after jumping off of a 35 foot bluff at Grinders Ferry and landing in the water on his back. Ethan Brown from Little Rock was on a float trip with others from the Little Rock area when the accident occurred. Grinders Ferry is a popular swimming and diving site east of Highway 65 on the Buffalo River. The accident occurred at approximately2:30 pm. Off duty EMT were recreating at a nearby location and sent a radio message to Searcy County 911. They were first on scene, followed by National Park Service rangers. An ambulance from NorthArk was standing by, but transportation was done via MedEvac helicopter to Little Rock where Mr. Brown remains in stable condition.
