In His Own Words
 

As an adult, Booker Washington became a great and well-respected author.  His most famous book is his second autobiography, Up from Slavery.  This book is recognized as one of the best non-fiction books of the 20th century.  The first chapter describes Washington's humble beginnings upon the Burroughs Plantation.  The following pages will his experiences on this plantation from Washington's own words.
