Booker T. Washington National Monument
Art Contest 2009

The Black History Month Theme for 2009 is "The Quest for Black Citizenship in the Americas." Students are asked to submit an original drawing depicting a scene from Booker T. Washington’s life representing a change in his life and /or his hope for the United States of America. Students will compete against other students throughout Franklin County and nearby regions within 3 categories: First through third, fourth and fifth and sixth through eighth grades. The prizes are a $50.00 Savings Bond for third place, a $75.00 Savings Bond for second place and a $100.00 Savings Bond for third place.

The Art Contest is made possible through a partnership between Booker T. Washington National Monument and the Friends of Booker T. Washington National Monument. The mission of the Friends of Booker T. Washington National Monument is to support the preservation of Booker T. Washington National Monument and its mission through volunteerism, financial support, advocacy, and increased community involvement and to promote public awareness and appreciation of the legacy of Booker T. Washington.
