Environmental Compliance Program:
The Environmental Compliance Program of the Boston Support Office provides advice and assistance to clients in order to assure compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related laws and regulations.
Clients
The program serves two categories of clients. The first category is parks and field units of the NPS's New England Cluster. The second category is other Federal (and occasionally state and local) government agencies.
Key Benefits
* Extensive knowledge of Federal environmental laws and regulations and expertise in assisting parks and other clients to meet their compliance requirements
* Working relationships with WASO, the Department of the Interior and its bureaus, and related state agencies throughout the Northeast on environmental issues
Key Services
* Advice and assistance to NPS units on NEPA and related Federal laws and regulations on environmental compliance, including
--public involvement
--document preparation
--approvals process
--filing requirements
related to NPS planning, resource management, and development initiatives in the context of NEPA compliance.
* Review and response coordination for other Federal, state, or local government initiatives that may require environmental compliance. Reviews of other agency project work are performed to minimize adverse affects on NPS-administered areas or to provide expertise focusing on resource protection and recreational enhancement. Case work is either "ER" controlled by the Department of the Interior's Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance (OEPC), or non-ER controlled as guided by NPS-12, 516 DM with supplemental memoranda.
* Maintenance of records for compliance work performed for the New England Cluster geographical area.
