Law Enforcement:

Services

The United States Park Police are a unit of the Department of Interior, National Park Service with jurisdiction in all National Park Service areas. Since its inception in 1791, the Park Police have provided a wide array of law enforcement services to our Nation’s Federal parks. Specifically, the BOSO Park Police are available to assist parks in the Northeast Region in the following areas:

 Criminal Investigations

The BOSO Park Police are available to conduct complete and thorough investigations of serious and potential crimes that may occur within a park. Services include the collection and preservation of physical evidence, the collection and dissemination of intelligence, coordination with other law enforcement agencies and asset forfeiture.

Internal Investigations

The BOSO Park Police are likewise available to conduct investigations within the internal operations of a park. Park Police internal investigations are similarly thorough to its criminal investigations, with the scope widened to include potential civil infractions.

Special Events Planning

One of the most valuable resources our parks offer is to provide a setting to a myriad of special events. The Park Police are available to assist park staff in considering the design, crowd control and safety factors involved in the coordination of both large and small venue special events.

 Security – Including VIP Visits

While thousands of visitors flock to our parks yearly, some require enhanced security due to their notable status. The BOSO Park Police are on hand to ensure that all phases of a "VIP" visit run smoothly.

While most threats to our National parks are fortunately unfounded, the BOSO Park Police embrace the old adage that, "it is better to be safe than sorry." Thus, if your park receives a terrorist or similar threat, the Park Police are accessible for immediate consultation and investigation.
