Volunteer Visitor Services

Join a visitor services team to greet visitors, provide information about the park, conduct tours, and more. All teams require a commitment of more than one day availability for scheduled activities.

Boston Light Team
Help National Park rangers and the U.S. Coast Guard lightkeeper conduct a three-hour adventure that begins with a boat cruise through Boston Harbor Islands, and culminates with a visit to the first and oldest lighthouse site in the United States. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands help staff the Boston Light Team with volunteers.

Did You Know?
Georges Island is home to Fort Warren, which was used as a prison during the Civil War. The fort’s most famous prisoner was the Vice President of the Confederacy, Alexander Stephens. Daily tours of this famous fort are offered from May to October.
