Bluestone National Scenic River
Freedom Of Information Act

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) gives you the right to access National Park Service (NPS) records unless the information in those records is protected by one or more of the nine exemptions (reasons an agency may withhold records from a requester) and there is a sound legal basis to withhold them.

If you are seeking general information about New River Gorge National River (NERI), Gauley River National Recreation Area (GARI), or Bluestone National Scenic River (BLUE), you may wish to browse our websites. If the records you are seeking are not already available on the parks' websites and you have questions on where they may be located or what information is available without submitting a FOIA request, you may wish to contact our FOIA Coordinator by e-mail or by phone at 304-465-6517. If the records you are seeking are not already public information, you will need to submit a written FOIA request to the park's FOIA Coordinator. Our responsibility is to provide you with copies of the documents you are entitled to receive under the law, and we want to work with you to achieve that goal.

FOIA regulations, instructions, and general information can be found at the Department of Interior FOIA website.

A list of National Park Service FOIA Officers is located on the National Park Service FOIA website.
