The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area is located in the heart of the southeastern United States, within a few hours’ drive of Atlanta, Nashville, Charleston, Charlotte, and Raleigh.  Asheville is the largest city in the North Carolina mountains and is served by the Asheville Regional Airport.

The most visited National Park lands in the country are the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, world-renowned for its biodiversity, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, America's longest scenic highway. Both are partially located within the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area.
