Blue Ridge Parkway officials announced today the temporary closing of the Parkway between US 220 in Roanoke at Milepost 121 and the access to US 221 at the top of Bent Mountain at Milepost 136. The closure will be in effect on weekdays, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM from December 1 through December 12. The closure is necessary for fall maintenance and end-of-season mowing operations that require equipment to be out in the roadway much of the time.  Parkway officials apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to the traveling public, emphasizing that closing the road is the safest and most efficient way to get this work accomplished.
