Parkway Kicks Off National Park Week

Join the staff of the Blue Ridge Parkway on Saturday, April 18 for a day of celebration and activities at the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Destination Center. This will be a kick-off celebration for National Park Week (April 19-25), Earth Day (April 22), and National Junior Ranger Day (April 25). The Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Destination Center is also observing its first year of operation in a “Green” building using “Green” practices. The following activities are free and open to the public: 10:00 AM - Green Gardening Practices: a talk by Alison Arnold from the North Carolina Arboretum 11:00 AM - JAM String Band: a performance by the Junior Appalachian Musicians 1:00 PM - Birds of Prey: Steve Longnecker will bring in several birds of prey and discuss their adaptations and life cycles The Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Destination Center is located at Milepost 384, just north on the Parkway from the junction of 74-A and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
