Contact: Leesa Brandon, 828 348 3420
Blue Ridge Parkway officials announce upcoming roadwork in a one-mile section of Parkway, commonly known as Ice Rock, from Milepost 242.4 at Alligator Back Parking Area through Milepost 241. The project involves twenty-four-hour, one-lane traffic control beginning Tuesday, May 27, 2014.
Bryant's Land & Development Industries, Inc. was awarded the contract to rebuild guard walls, rehabilitate drainage systems, and complete paving projects in this area. The contractors will work within the one-lane closure through November 1, 2014, when a full area closure goes into effect until mid-April 2015. Parkway managers ask for the public's cooperation with this closure, asking motorists to stay alert and be aware of the temporary stoplights in use through the construction area.
