The National Park Service (NPS) has issued a prospectus for a concessions business opportunity along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The prospectus is for offers for a 10-year concession contract to provide Food and Beverage, Retail and Lodging Services at Mabry Mill Restaurant and Rocky Knob Cabins.

Mabry Mill, at Parkway milepost 176, is one of the Blue Ridge Parkway's most popular visitor attractions due to its rich history and picturesque environment. Facilities at Mabry Mill include the historic gristmill, sawmill and blacksmith shop, which were built shortly after the turn of the 20th century and restored to provide visitors a view of pioneer life in Appalachia. Directly south of the historic area is the Mabry Mill Restaurant and Gift Shop.

The Rocky Knob Recreation Area, at Parkway milepost 174, has more than 3,500 acres of mostly rugged, forested terrain, including Rock Castle Gorge. The Concession Opportunity at Rocky Knob is to manage the seven Rocky Knob Cabins. The Cabins offer a relaxed visitor experience with close proximity to several natural, cultural and historical sites.

All offers must be received by the NPS at the address listed on the inside front cover of the prospectus no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013. The prospectus describes the business opportunity and includes the terms and conditions under which the NPS will award the concession contract. The prospectus is available on the NPS website at http://concessions.nps.gov/ prospectuses.htm, or you can receive a hard copy for $40.00. To request a hard copy of the prospectus to be delivered via Federal Express, send a check for $40.00 payable to the National Park Service to Mark Morgan at the address listed below. Please include a physical address (no post office box) and telephone number. You may also pick up a printed copy at the Superintendent's Office at Blue Ridge Parkway Headquarters for $35.00 (checks only).

If you are planning to submit a proposal and have obtained your prospectus from the website, we recommend that you advise Mark Morgan, Concessions Management Specialist, Southeast Region, NPS, AFC, 1924 Building, 100 Alabama Street, S.W., Atlanta, GA 30303 at (404) 507-5638, or email at Mark_Morgan@nps.gov of your interest so your contact information can be placed on a mailing list to receive future responses to questions or amendments to the prospectus. Those receiving a hard copy, or who are on the mailing list, will be provided with any additional information specific to the prospectus in writing. The same information is posted to the above mentioned website. No telephone requests for the prospectus will be honored.

A site visit has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Please RSVP to Laura Nelson at 828-348-3407, or Laura_S_Nelson@nps.gov , for details and to reserve a spot.

Questions in response to this prospectus are due in writing by Wednesday, May 1, 2013, to the address listed on the inside front cover of the prospectus or by email to Mark Morgan.
