BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY GEARS UP FOR FALL TRAVEL SEASON

NC/VA - The Blue Ridge Parkway is anticipating another strong fall visitor season with the 469-mile motor route currently open from end to end. October is historically one of the Parkway's highest visitation months and park managers expect that to continue to be true.

Visitors can find specific information to prepare for their Parkway experience from a variety of sources. The parks website provides a real-time road closure map, facility schedules, suggested itineraries, visitor center locations, and much more at www.nps.gov/blri. Recorded late season wildflower blooming and fall foliage information is available at 828.298.0398 and is updated regularly. Park updates and information is also available on social media at www.facebook.com/BlueRidgeNPS.

Park managers remind visitors that the Parkway is a living and fragile resource. Visitors can help protect it by following park regulations while in the park and planning visits carefully to avoid unexpected road or weather conditions.

As in the past, park managers will begin making preparations for changes to the seasonal operating schedules of Parkways facilities when the fall season winds down. The full listing of facilities is available below and on the park's website at http://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/hours.htm.
