The South Rim Road is open to the Visitor Center, but the remainder of the road is closed to allow for grooming the ski trail. Grooming is expected to start soon but the snowpack is thin. The North Rim and East Portal Roads are closed for the season.
Due to the technical nature and numerous difficult portages, the Gunnison River through Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is not raftable.
Rafting opportunities are available in the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area west of the National Park. Several outfitters offer guided raft trips on the Gunnison Gorge section of the river.

Did You Know?
The Black Canyon stretches far beyond the 14 miles within the national park. Including the canyon within Curecanti National Recreation Area and Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area, the total length is 53 miles.
