  • Hunter Registration Begins July 7

    Big Thicket National Preserve staff will begin issuing hunting permits for the 2014-2015 season on July 7, 2014, at the Preserve visitor center. The visitor center is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily. Please call 951-6700 for more information.


The Big Thicket National Preserve bookstore, located in the visitor center, carries a wide selection of publications, DVDs, souvenirs, and Junior Ranger items. These items are made available through the Western National Parks Association, a non-profit cooperating association based in Arizona.

Items purchased at our bookstore ultimately benefit the Preserve and our visitors. A percentage of all sales comes back to the Preserve so that we can further assist our visitors through publications development and other services.
