Firearms in National Parks Law

Federal law allows people who can legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state, and local laws to legally possess firearms in this NPS site. It is the responsibility of visitors who carry firearms to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearm laws before entering this park.

Big Thicket National Preserve follows Texas state laws regarding the carrying of firearms. Please review our hunting regulations for information on legal hunting methods in the preserve.

Firearms are not allowed in certain facilities in Big Thicket National Preserve, including the visitor center. These facilities are marked with signs at all public entrances.
