Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will be celebrating National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 27, by authorizing one night of free camping at Alum Ford Campground and free backcountry camping permits. Several volunteer projects will be taking place during the day throughout the park. For more information, call (423) 569-9778.

National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer event in which eight federal agencies as well as other groups partner together to maintain and protect the environment. More information can befound at www.publiclandsday.org.
