Some segments of the Biscayne Birding Trail are easily accessible on foot. Other segments can only be accessed by boat. Please note that the remote offshore areas, due to sea conditions, are best approached using larger vessels.

Foot and Car - A roundtrip walk along the Black Point jetty takes about an hour if stopping to bird. Driving from Black Point to Convoy Point takes about 30 minutes. A round trip walk around the visitor center, parking lot and jetty at Convoy Point, taking frequent stops to bird, takes about an hour.

Kayak or Canoe - there are numerous canoe and kayak trails in the park.

Small boat - fine for calm sea conditions. Enter park waters from any south Miami-Dade County boat ramp. From Homestead Bayfront marina it takes about 45 minutes to reach Elliott Key, and an hour to reach Stiltsville or Boca Chita.

Large boat (25') - enter park waters from any south Miami-Dade County boat ramp. From Homestead Bayfront marina it takes about one and a half hours to reach Pacific Reef light with a motorized 25' boat.
