HOMESTEAD, FLORIDA – Only the last few weekends of April are left in the season to take advantage of the popular Homestead National Parks Trolley. The trolley provides free transportation each weekend, until the end of April, from historic downtown Homestead to Biscayne and Everglades National Parks, as well as Homestead Bayfront Park. The trolley, which attracted nearly 4,000 riders since it began operating in January, is the only available public transportation to these parks from downtown Homestead.

"The Homestead National Parks Trolley has been an overwhelming success not only for transporting nearly 400 residents and tourists to our national parks every weekend," said Homestead's Vice Mayor Stephen R. Shelley, "but also in generating an immediate economic impact to our historic downtown businesses."

After the 2013-2014 season ends, trolley service resumes in November, 2014. Free guided tours are provided on the trolley where visitors may learn about the history and ecosystems of the parks and community. Free parking is available at the trolley stop located at Losner Park, 104 N. Krome Avenue, in Homestead. Trolley seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The trolley transports visitors to the Dante Fascell Visitor Center and boardwalk in Biscayne National Park, the Ernest Coe Visitor Center and the Anhinga Trail in Everglades National Park, and the atoll beach in Homestead Bayfront Park. Visitors to Homestead may enjoy area restaurants, the historic architecture of the city, and the free Old Town Hall Museum. The trolley program is the result of efforts of the National Parks Conservation Association in collaboration with the National Park Service and the City of Homestead.
