Fire Management

With 95% of the park's acreage covered by water, fire management is generally not a big issue at Biscayne National Park. National Park Service policy though dictates that every NPS unit with burnable vegetation must develop a fire management plan (FMP).

Did You Know?
When exploring Biscayne National Park's coral reefs, don't forget to slow down and take note of some of the small wonders. Turtles, sharks and shipwrecks are great, but don't miss flamingo tongue snails, Christmas tree worms and mermaid's wineglasses.
