September Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Advisory Committee Meeting Canceled

The ORV Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in Everglades City from 3:30 - 8:00 p.m., has been canceled. The next meeting of the committee is scheduled for December 1.

The ORV Advisory Committee was established pursuant to the Preserve's 2000 Recreational Off-road Vehicle Management Plan and the Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972 to examine issues and make recommendations regarding the management of ORVs within the Preserve.

The purple galinule though one of the most colorful birds in Big Cypress, is often well camouflaged. Look carefully along canal edges and gator holes for this beautiful bird. Many of the surrounding colors blend well with the birds feathers.
