Operating Hours & Seasons

Yellowtail Dam Visitor Center, Fort Smith, Montana
Open: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily from Memorial Day to August 24. 

Starting August 25 the Visitor Center will be open Thursday thru Monday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

September 26, 2009 will be the last day the Yellowtail Dam Visitor Center will be open for the 2009 season.

Cal S. Taggart Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center, Lovell, Wyoming
Summer hours - Memorial Day to September 12, 2009: Open Daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Fall hours - September 13, 2009 to December 5, 2009: Open Daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Winter hours - December 6, 2009 to March 27, 2010: Open Thursday - Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Spring hours - March 28, 2010 to May 22, 2010: Open Daily 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

New Summer hours - May 23, 2010 to Labor Day 2010: Open Daily 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The visitor center will be closed on the following federal holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day and President’s Day.

Did You Know?
Below the Yellowtail Dam, is the site of Fort Smith. One of three military forts along the Bozeman Trail, it was active from August 1866 to July 1868. The first women and children to live within the fort’s perimeters came in the summer of 1867.
