From Fort Smith, Montana to Ok-A-Beh Launch Ramp And Marina

  • Head south on Highway 313 for 0.3 miles
  • Turn left at the sign for Ok-A Beh Road
  • Head south for 10 miles
  • Arrive at the OK-A-Beh Launch Ramp and Marina

Warning: Do not attempt to drive the Ok-A-Beh Road in the winter during icy and/or snowy conditions. The road is prone to being blocked by large drifts. Though conditions on Highway 313 leading to Fort Smith may seem benign the Ok-A-Beh Road, due to higher elevation, can be quite dangerous.

Fort C.F. Smith, was the most isolated of the posts which guarded the Bozeman Trail. Active from August 1866 to July 1868, it was under constant threat from the Sioux and Northern Cheyenne tribes during Red Cloud’s War. The U.S. government was forced to abandon the fort and trail.
