It is your responsibility to comply with the rules and regulations. A valid State of Montana fishing license is required for all types of fishing on state waters. Please reference the Montana Fishing Rules and Regulations publication or at this link: http://fwp.mt.gov/fishing/regulations/

The following list gives a quick overview of information that many anglers need to know. If you have other questions consult the Montana Fishing Rules and Regulations.

  • River is open entire year
  • Trout: 5 daily and in possession, only 1 over 18 inches
  • Sauger/Walleye: 5 daily, only 1 may be Sauger
    (Possession limit is 10, only 2 may be Sauger)
  • 1 line with 2 hooks per line, rod or line must be attended and in angler's immediate control
