Yellowtail Dam Visitor Center To Open Memorial Day Weekend

The Yellowtail Dam Visitor Center at Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area will begin its 2011 summer season by opening on Saturday May 28th. The visitor center will be open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through Labor Day, September 5th

Location and Directions:
Fort Smith, Montana. From the town of Fort Smith continue south past the government housing, the NPS Headquarters and the Bureau of Reclamation office building. Continue up the hill to the parking lot for the Visitor Center

Closures
Due to National Security Issues, tours into the dam are no longer available. Access is not allowed on top of the dam.

A variety of films are shown upon request.

-The Unique Geology of Bighorn Canyon
-Robert Yellowtail, Crow Tribal Leader
-Crow Tribe and Famed Leader Chief Plenty Coups
-History of Bighorn River and Bighorn Lake
-Fishing Bighorn Lake.
