Living Off the Land Exhibit Open House
Contact: Christy Fleming, 307-548-5406
Bighorn Canyon invites you to an open house to view a new exhibit at the Cal Taggart Visitor Center in Lovell on Saturday, August 17th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. The exhibit theme is "Living off the Land" and will feature implements used in the mining, farming, and ranching industries. Come and experience the new exhibit at the Cal Taggart Visitor Center.
Rumors of gold in the Bighorns are responsible for the development of Bighorn Basin. Miners during the 1800s developed the roads leading into the area during their search. These same roads allowed ranchers to move cattle into the basin. By the early 1900s ranches had started to develop, and farming started becoming popular. Ranching, farming, and mining have continued to help many live off the land today.
Bighorn Cayon is rotating exhibits. We would like to thank the Kane Museum for the Kane Post Office Exhibit which has been on display for the past year and a half. We would also like to thank WYO-BEN, David Northrup, and Brad Ferguson for their contributions to the current exhibit. Lastly, thank you to all the park employees who have helped take apart the old exhibit and build the new one.
