Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area needs volunteer campground hosts for the Trail Creek Campground near Barry's Landing, and for the Horseshoe Bend Campground. The position requires approximately 32 hours of work per week, mostly on weekends. The person will greet visitors at the campground, tell them about things to do in the park, and tell them where to pay for sites that have utilities. The person will also do some cleaning of the restrooms, and garbage collection.

The campground host at the Horseshoe Bend Campground will have a camp site with free electric and water hookups for their camper or tent. The Trail Creek Campground host will have electric, and a tank of water. There are flush toilets and sinks at Horseshoe Bend. Trail Creek has vault toilets.

The position generally runs from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day weekend. The person who works at the Horseshoe Bend Campground will be trained in the use of an UTV. The volunteers will also be trained in the use of a hand-held radio. The volunteers will also make sure that campers respect the quiet hours in the campgrounds, and make sure that campers respect the 14 day limit on staying at the campground.

Working as a campground host is a great way to spend a summer in the great outdoors, and the volunteers have great opportunities to travel around the area to see other exciting parks. Volunteering is also a great way to help your national parks.
